What the numbers are

Prices are published by the US Energy Information Administration. The monthly bill multiplies that price by a state average usage; it is an estimate, not a bill you will receive. Your utility's tariff, fees, taxes and your own consumption decide the real figure.

Accuracy

Figures are checked against the source each time the site is rebuilt, but the source itself is revised and no warranty of completeness or timeliness is given. Verify anything you intend to act on against the original EIA publication.

Assistance information

The eligibility floor described on the assistance page is federal; states set their own thresholds and can change them without notice. Only your state agency can decide whether you qualify.
